The eye area is extremely delicate. Therefore, it’s crucial to clean it gently and carefully to protect our eyes. Follow the advice from our expert.
1. Use Makeup Remover Milk to Remove Eyeshadow
The skin around the eyes is particularly sensitive because it is thinner. Thus, it is vital to cleanse this area with precision and gentleness to remove any makeup residue that might weaken it.
Expert Advice
“The removal process should start with the eyeshadow. I recommend using a specific eye makeup remover milk because its texture is soft and it slides better on the skin,” explains Audrey Giron, an esthetician at Plaisirs des Sens.
If you’re not a fan of makeup remover milk, consider using a dual-phase eye makeup remover instead.
2. Use Circular Motions
To properly remove eye makeup, it’s important to use circular motions clockwise to stimulate blood circulation and thus, prevent puffy eyes and bags.
Expert Advice
“To eliminate all makeup residue, clean your eyes with a cotton pad slightly moistened with makeup remover milk. Gently slide the cotton from the inner corner of the eye outward, and then move from the outer corner back in under the eye. To ensure the area is thoroughly clean, go over it a second time. This should be sufficient,” adds Audrey Giron.
3. Remove Mascara with Cotton
Mascara is one of the most challenging makeup products to remove. Often being waterproof, it clings to the lashes and can lead to premature lash loss if not removed properly.
Expert Advice
“Remove mascara using a cotton pad lightly soaked in makeup remover milk to prevent the product from dripping into your eyes. Then, wipe the product off from the top downward along the lashes. If your mascara is waterproof, choose an oil-based makeup remover,” our expert advises.
4. Erase Eyeliner with a Cotton Swab
Whether it’s a smoky eye or a graphic look, eyeliner often leaves stubborn marks.
Expert Advice
“Dampen a cotton swab with a bit of makeup remover milk and erase your eyeliner by following its line,” our esthetician specifies.
5. Perfect the Cleansing with a Toning Lotion
After cleaning the eyes with makeup remover milk, it’s crucial to refresh and hydrate the area to keep it looking beautiful and smooth.
Expert Advice
“You can finish cleansing with a toning lotion. Afterwards, apply an eye contour cream to properly moisturize the skin,” suggests Audrey Giron.
