The Sheer Trend Takes Over the US Open

The trend of bold, transparent attire has made a striking appearance at the US Open.

This Tuesday, Aryna Sabalenka was seen competing in a translucent, mesh tennis dress by Nike, detailed with striking white stitching. Underneath, she sported a vivid orange sports bra and coordinating shorts, both from the same sports apparel giant.

However, it was Sabalenka’s choice of accessories that truly captured the audience’s attention during her doubles match alongside Novak Djokovic.

Luxury Jewels on the Court

A renowned jeweler from New York City, Material Good, has been adorning the Belarusian athlete for all her significant matches recently. They even worked together on an exclusive jewelry collection designed specifically for Sabalenka.

In her latest match this week, Sabalenka opted for a stunning ensemble of jewelry, including a necklace, bracelet, and drop earrings. These pieces were lavishly set with over 127 carats of multicolored gemstones including sapphires, tourmalines, garnets, zircons, spinels, chrysoberyls, and tanzanites, crafted into various shapes.

Inspired by the vibrant and dynamic essence of New York City, the design of the “Silhouette Suite” incorporates the city’s gritty, edgy character. Material Good highlighted that the gemstones used are sourced globally, reflecting the diverse cultural backdrop of NYC, much like a melting pot of global heritage.

Previously, at the French Open in May, Sabalenka dazzled spectators wearing over 125 carats of garnets from Material Good. The choice of garnets was a homage to the iconic red clay courts of Roland-Garros.

Then, at Wimbledon in June, she impressed onlookers with an emerald jewelry set from the same jeweler, inspired by the lush green of the tournament’s grass courts and also aligning with Sabalenka’s birthstone.

“Jewelry is a personal form of expression for me both on and off the court, and this collaboration seemed like a perfect step forward in my journey of style,” Sabalenka expressed in a press release back in January, when she announced her partnership as the first ambassador for Material Good.

“Collaborating with Material Good allows me to explore my creativity further and complete my ensembles with pieces that are both intentional and contemporary,” she added.
