Mckenna Grace, who portrays District 12 tribute Maysilee Donner in “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,” has been dressing like a superfan of the franchise as she promotes the movie, which opens Nov. 20.
Partnering with stylist Molly Dickson, the 20-year-old has traveled to Paris, Sydney, New York and London in looks that nod to Katniss Everdeen, previous cast members and recurring series imagery.
Grace told Entertainment Tonight earlier this month that nearly every outfit she’s worn is a deliberate reference — a way to salute those who came before her in the franchise.
Here’s a closer look at the tributes she’s paid so far.
Oct. 28 — London premiere
At the London premiere she brought the spirit of the arena to the red carpet in an intricately beaded Almée Couture gown that featured a pastoral tableau and three-dimensional flowers cascading across the skirt. Beaded drop earrings and purple eye makeup completed the ensemble.

Joking with Entertainment Tonight, she quipped that the only thing missing was a cornucopia.
Oct. 28 — press appearances
For promotional interviews the same day, Dickson selected an archival Gucci dress from the brand’s fall/winter 2016 archive. The gown had tiered ruffles in green, flamingo pink and magenta and was paired with silver platform sandals. The rainbow ruffle palette was an intentional wink to Rachel Zegler’s Lucy Gray Baird from 2023’s “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.”
Oct. 26 — Today show
On the “Today” show, Grace wore an aqua Betsey Johnson minidress — a more grown-up take on the puff-sleeve silhouette Amandla Stenberg wore as Rue in the 2012 “The Hunger Games.” She even echoed that look with twin butterfly hair clips.

Oct. 18 — Newport Beach Film Festival Honors / Variety event
Butterflies surfaced again at the Newport Beach Film Festival Honors and Variety’s 10 Actors to Watch event, this time as delicate silk appliqués decorating a tea-length, strapless Nicole + Felicia dress. The motif also references a moment in “Sunrise on the Reaping.”
Oct. 17 — Academy Museum Gala
Although the Academy Museum Gala wasn’t Hunger Games–specific, Grace nodded to Jennifer Lawrence’s off-screen fashion history. She evoked Lawrence’s unforgettable 2011 red Calvin Klein Oscar gown with a Mônot halter dress featuring a dramatic plunging neckline.
Oct. 14 — Australia appearance
While promoting the film in Australia, she wore a ballet-pink House of Gilles gown gathered on one shoulder, accented with a matching bow and a floral hairpiece. A side braid added a subtle nod to Katniss.
Oct. 6 — Musée Rodin / exhibition opening
Grace began the tour at the Musée Rodin for the opening of Elegance Is Authority: The Story, Style, and Power of Panem, a costume exhibit. She arrived in a white strapless Monique Lhuillier gown with an ornate crystal structure that appears to rise off the bodice — a look inspired by Katniss Everdeen’s wedding dress in “Catching Fire.”
