In a recent installment of the “New Heights” podcast, brothers Jason and Travis Kelce talked about a risqué tattoo featuring an image of the former Philadelphia Eagles player. In the tattoo, Jason is depicted in the nude, with the team’s mascot strategically positioned to cover his private areas.
“Someone actually got that inked on them permanently?” Ed asked, bewildered. “That’s not just a temporary henna tattoo?”
“Absolutely nuts,” was Ed’s response when prompted for his initial thoughts on the tattoo, prompting a burst of laughter from Jason.
“I came across it on social media, and it’s just awkward. The image alone is enough to make you cringe, even before you see it tattooed on someone,” he added.
Jason joined the conversation, noting, “I’ve never heard you describe something as ‘cringe,’ so this is definitely uncharted waters for you.” The ESPN host humorously added, “I don’t think I look too bad in it, honestly. They were pretty kind to me.”
“Might be the best you’ve ever looked,” Travis joked.
Jason initially reacted to the tattoo on X (previously known as Twitter), commenting, “I’m not sure whether to be offended or flattered.” He followed up with another post, “I think flattered; it’s a generous depiction, good sized head.” Jason’s wife, Kylie Kelce, expressed her surprise by commenting, “Excuse me???” on the tattoo’s original TikTok video.
The story behind the provocative tattoo turned out to be quite amusing. It was not the creation of an overzealous Eagles fan, but instead the result of a bet between a couple. Lauren Philpot, a New York Giants fan, revealed to TMZ Sports that she ended up with the tattoo after losing a bet to her husband, an avid Philly supporter, during the 2022-23 NFL season.
Despite the unusual circumstances, Philpot has no regrets about her new ink. “This is just part of who I am. A bet is a bet,” she explained to the media outlet. “Even if I decide to cover it up, I still went through with it. I don’t mind at all. It’s a humorous story and something my husband and I enjoy doing,” she concluded.
