Ingredient Preparation
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Drain the cherries. Melt the butter and let it cool.

Preparing the Batter
In a bowl, whip the butter until creamy. Add sugar and almond powder, then mix. Incorporate the eggs one by one until the mixture is homogeneous. Add flour, baking powder, salt, then pour in the kirsch. Mix well.

Assembling the Cake
Grease and flour a small round mold. Pour half of the batter into the mold. Distribute all the cherries on the batter in a single layer. Cover with the remaining half of the batter.

Baking
Bake for about 30 minutes, until the cake is golden and a knife comes out clean.

Unmolding and Serving
Unmold onto a rack and let cool slightly. Sprinkle with toasted almonds. Dust with icing sugar just before serving.
