Ethan Slater Cheers on Girlfriend Ariana Grande at SNL Afterparty Post-Hosting

Ariana Grande’s boyfriend and costar from ‘Wicked’, joined her at an afterparty following her hosting stint on ‘SNL’—her second time leading the show.

Ethan Slater, age 32, was there to support his girlfriend, 31-year-old Ariana Grande, after she hosted Saturday Night Live on October 12. Slater, who stars alongside Grande in the upcoming movie Wicked, was spotted with her at L’Avenue at Saks, a popular spot in New York City.

An inside source reveals that the couple was accompanied by Grande’s close friend Elizabeth Gillies. The group maintained a low profile, successfully avoiding the paparazzi stationed outside. Scarlett Johansson and her husband, SNL comedian and writer Colin Jost, were also present at the event.

Stevie Nicks, who performed as that night’s musical guest, attended the party with her band members. SNL veterans Maya Rudolph, Andy Samberg, and Dana Carvey—who appeared in the episode portraying Vice President Kamala Harris, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, and President Joe Biden, respectively—were also in attendance.

According to the source, other notable guests included Simu Liu, Jack Schlossberg, Jim Gaffigan, Este Haim, Matt Rogers, Benito Skinner, Evan Ross Katz, and members of the SNL cast and crew such as Kenan Thompson, Michael Che, Bowen Yang, Chloe Fineman, Marcello Hernández, Ego Nwodim, Heidi Gardner, James Austin Johnson, Sarah Sherman, Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow, Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Jane Wickline.

During her hosting role, Grande participated in several memorable sketches and was reunited with another Wicked cast member, Bowen Yang, age 33.

This event marked Grande’s second time hosting SNL. She has also been a musical guest on three occasions, including a March 2016 episode where she took on both hosting and musical duties.

Grande and Slater met on the set of the two-part film adaptation of the Broadway hit Wicked, with the first part set to premiere on November 22. In the film, Grande plays Glinda, and Cynthia Erivo stars as Elphaba, with Slater as Boq, the love interest of Elphaba’s sister Nessarose.

In a 2024 Met Gala interview with Vogue, Grande described working on Wicked as “the most extraordinary, transformative and beautiful experience of my life,” noting her love for the story since she was ten years old.
