“Allyship requires action. It’s not sufficient to simply declare your love for everyone,” the former star of “Real Housewives of New Jersey” shared during an exclusive interview with Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea.”
“It involves standing with others during challenging times, defending families facing adversity, and speaking out when the rights to equality are questioned,” she added.
Josephs conveyed this impactful message during a recent upscale Pride celebration at Allendale Social in New Jersey, which was organized to support Family Equality, a group committed to advancing the rights and protection of LGBTQIA+ families.
A Gathering of Stars and Supporters
Josephs collaborated with Jaimee Rizzo and her spouse, Lisa Rizzo of the Taylor Lucyk Group, and the event was partly created by Lexi Barbuto through her platform Soirée. The event succeeded in bringing together LGBTQIA+ individuals, allies, families, and notable figures for an evening focused on love, visibility, and fundraising.
The event was attended by several well-known personalities including Meghan King from “Real Housewives of Orange County,” former “RHONJ” cast member and podcast host Kim DePaola, affectionately known as Kim D., Josephs’ husband Joe Benigno, Simon & Schuster bestselling author Judith Turner, Jennifer DiLandro from the “Cats & Pudding” podcast, celebrity beauty specialists Rosario Cannata and Jamal Tadros, and Danny Murphy from “Virtual Reali-Tea.”
Throughout the night, attendees were educated about the mission of Family Equality, which focuses on advocacy, education, and providing legal protections and family-building support to LGBTQIA+ parents, children, foster and adoptive families, and those forming families through assisted reproductive technology.
Inspirational Moments and Joyous Celebrations
Darra Gordon, CEO of Family Equality, was present and delivered a heartfelt speech emphasizing the importance of visibility and representation for LGBTQIA+ families. Gordon expressed her deep connection to the event, noting it as one of her top Pride events of the year, and shared how impactful such an event would have been during her own upbringing in New Jersey.
Emily Jones also represented Family Equality at the celebration.
No Pride event would be complete without a vibrant performance, and drag artist The Spectra Electra provided exactly that. Electra captivated the audience with a dynamic show set to the tunes of pop sensation Zara Larsson, infusing the event with additional glamour and celebratory spirit.
Guests also enjoyed an array of colorful desserts provided by The Royal Sweet Fairy, a favorite among celebrities like Megan Thee Stallion and the Backstreet Boys, as well as stars from various “Real Housewives” shows.
Generous Contributions and Fundraising Success
A touching highlight of the evening was the contribution by TruGenetics, who donated a DNA health testing kit to Family Equality. This gift will benefit a family within the community, providing them valuable biological health information, which is particularly significant for families formed through adoption, foster care, donor conception, and surrogacy.
The funds raised during the soirée will directly aid Family Equality’s initiatives to advocate for LGBTQIA+ families, educate parents about their rights, support family-building efforts, and push for necessary protections in areas like adoption, foster care, education, reproductive rights, and family recognition.
For Josephs, the event represented more than just a fabulous gathering; it was an opportunity to actively support a community she holds dear.
With a mix of heartfelt support, meaningful fundraising, and enchanting entertainment, the event clearly achieved its purpose, resonating love and solidarity throughout the evening.
