Kim Kardashian Set to Testify in Court

Kim Kardashian is stepping up to the witness stand.

As reported by TMZ on Wednesday, Kim Kardashian is scheduled to testify against a notorious gang from Paris, believed to be behind the high-profile robbery she suffered in 2016.

Almost a decade after the traumatic event, where she was tied up and held at gunpoint in her Hôtel de Pourtalès room in Paris, the 44-year-old co-founder of SKIMS is preparing to travel to France this May to provide her testimony.

The criminals made off with jewelry valued at approximately $10 million, including a $4 million revamped wedding ring that Kardashian received from her then-husband Kanye West earlier that same year.

Following an extensive investigation, French authorities decided in 2021 that 12 out of the 17 arrested individuals would face trial. The jury trial is set to commence four years after this decision.

Kardashian had previously given her testimony to a French judge in New York just four months post-robbery, as per a Daily Mail report. In 2020, her insurance company quietly reached a $6.1 million settlement over a lawsuit that accused her former bodyguard, Pascal Duvier, and his security firm of negligence.

Robbery Details and Aftermath

In a 2022 interview with VICE News, Yunis Abbas, a key figure in the robbery plot, mentioned that Kardashian’s lavish displays on social media spurred the group’s decision to target her.

“She was flaunting her wealth, so I was simply there to take it. Guilty? No, it doesn’t bother me,” Abbas stated.

Kardashian has openly shared the profound effects the robbery has had on her, noting significant increases in anxiety. In a 2021 episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” she disclosed to her sister, Khloé, how the incident led her to develop what felt like agoraphobia.

“Post-robbery, I was extremely anxious about going out. I preferred staying in, avoiding being seen or disclosing my location. It was a period of intense anxiety for me,” she explained.

Current Challenges and Family Priorities

The upcoming trial coincides with Kardashian’s very public and contentious issues with Kanye West, particularly concerning his recent invitations to Andrew and Tristan Tate—both accused of rape and human trafficking—to meet their 11-year-old daughter, North. His frequent, inflammatory social media posts have only added to the strain.

TMZ hints that the entrepreneur is contemplating taking legal action against her ex-husband to modify their existing custody arrangement over their children.

A source close to Kardashian emphasized to Page Six her focus on the “well-being and safety” of their four children: North, Saint, aged 9; Chicago, aged 7; and Psalm, aged 5.
