Struggling with rock-hard ice cream? There’s an easy trick to keep it scoopable before you store it in the freezer.
Among the top 10 most effective remedies for the blues, you’ll find chocolate bars and ice cream tubs. It’s a curious paradox how ice cream manages to warm our hearts while delivering a frosty assault on our taste buds. The heartbroken know this well: just slump on the couch with it and a romantic comedy, and it melts away like snow in the sun – often before the movie even ends.
The freezer aisles, keen on mending broken hearts, overflow with a multitude of flavors. At least, we have the freedom to choose the flavor to drown our sorrows in: the classic vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, or pistachio (painfully stirring up nostalgic memories and pressing on where it hurts…), or the more sophisticated peanut butter, cookies, raspberry cheesecake, caramel brownie, tiramisu, or Parisian macaroon (fitting for ending a relationship as complex as their names).
When you think you’ve found the perfect mood-lifter in this makeshift pharmacy (sadly, not covered by insurance, which would be too good to be true…), you shove it in your insulated bag and hurry home to stash it in the freezer. But when it’s time to dive into this emotional salve, you’re met with a frosty layer so tough that even the sturdiest soup spoon struggles to break through. At this rate, healing seems impossible.
Yet, there is a surprisingly simple way to avoid this annoying issue. Always ready with handy tips, Jimmy from the duo @jimmy_laura_astuces shares his method in an Instagram post. Before freezing your tub, place a parchment paper disc directly on the ice cream, close the lid, then seal it in an airtight bag. This prevents ice formation, making your ice cream much easier to enjoy. After all, it shouldn’t have a heart of stone, either.
Next time you bring home your precious tub, remember: a simple disc of parchment paper can preserve your comforting ice cream session. This small step, done before freezing, prevents overly hard ice cream and lets you dig in immediately. Because when it comes to comfort, every minute counts.
