Mix the milk with powdered sugar and vanilla (extract or sachet). Place this mixture into the small freezer bag and seal tightly.
What is the role of salt in the process?
The salt lowers the freezing point of the ice, which causes the ice cubes to melt by absorbing heat… including that from the mixture to be frozen. As a result, the preparation cools very quickly, allowing the ice cream to set in just a few minutes.
Can I use liquid vanilla or do I need a vanilla bean?
Yes, you can definitely use liquid vanilla, vanilla sugar, or even vanilla powder. A vanilla bean will however provide a more intense and natural flavor. For a quick ice cream like this one, a good quality liquid vanilla will work perfectly.
How long can it be stored in the freezer?
This ice cream is best right after preparation, as its texture is soft and creamy. If frozen, it will harden further. You can keep it for up to 2 or 3 days in the freezer, in an airtight container, but remember to take it out 10 to 15 minutes before serving to achieve a pleasant texture.
