The consumer association endorses this high-quality product, noted for its very healthy ingredients, containing 71% vegetables.

As the weather cools down, everyone dreams of snuggling under a blanket with a great TV show. And what better way to warm up than with a steaming cup of soup topped with grated Gruyère and toasted croutons? But after a long workday, wrestling with a peeler and a pot of boiling water might not sound so appealing… Tonight, you decide, you’ll pick up some ready-made soup from the grocery store. Wandering the aisles, you’re looking for that perfect, creamy vegetable soup that tastes just like grandma used to make. Fortunately, the UFC-Que Choisir’s soup comparison, published on September 19, 2024, comes just in time. The search quickly ends as two frozen soups stand out, including a highly recommended one from Picard.

To determine its rankings, the consumer association reviewed 40 commercial soups across various price ranges. These included store brands (which the testers advised against), as well as more expensive, organic and non-organic options. The evaluation criteria? Vegetable content, the presence of additives or pesticides, and the verification of nutritional claims on the packaging. Two soups topped the list: Marcel Bio’s “organic artisanal 7-vegetable soup” scored a respectable 14.2/20. Just ahead, Auchan’s “5-vegetable velouté” took second place with a score of 14.3/20, standing out for its quality ingredients at 2.94 euros per liter. However, leading the pack was a soup from Picard!

Scoring an impressive 17/20, Picard’s “organic 9-vegetable cooked soup” was the top pick of the comparison. UFC-Que Choisir praised its excellent composition, rich in vegetables and low in salt. The association noted that “this soup leads the pack with a vegetable content of 71%, not counting the 4% potato content”. This is a record high compared to other soups, which often rely on thickeners to achieve a creamy texture. Although this soup is slightly pricier at 4.70 euros per kilo, it’s a price worth paying for quality.

Customer reviews on Picard’s website also reflect high satisfaction. “The best ready-made soup… a delight!” exclaims one customer. “It’s a regular favorite from our four-year-old granddaughter to her grandfather!” comments another. Clearly, it’s a reliable choice for those times when you need a comforting boost!
