This bizarre French customer habit is driving shop owners crazy
Named the best rosé of the year 2025 by the editors of Figaro Wine, here’s what sets it apart…
As soon as the sun makes its appearance, two summer essentials emerge from storage: the parasol and the champagne bucket, ready to host chilled rosé wines nestled in ice, providing a light way to enjoy the summer. Even though you might already have a favorite wine, the vintage we’re about to discuss is definitely worth a taste. After sampling over 150 different rosés, the journalists at Figaro Wine have ranked it at the top of their list for the best rosés of 2025! Scoring an impressive 95.5 out of 100, this bottle has garnered unanimous praise. What makes it stand out? A fruity aromatic profile enhanced by herbal notes.
“A smooth bouquet (…) reminiscent of a red fruit salad with a hint of vanilla, Bourdaloue tart, and a touch of black olive. The palate is endlessly gentle, complex with bitterness, featuring also notes of fresh strawberries, undergrowth.” This is how the journalists at Figaro describe this rosé, which is refreshingly delicious. The vineyard’s website adds “a dimension of black tea, sage, garrigue” and “notes of fresh herbs and mint.” This aromatic profile aligns with the terroir of the wine, which carries the AOC Bandol designation. Located on the edge of the sea in the Var department of Provence, the rosés here are renowned for their freshness and “remarkable aging potential,” notes the article from Figaro.
With a near-perfect score of 95.5/100, the 2021 vintage of Château de Pibarnon Nuances rosé takes the number one spot in the Figaro Wine rankings. Priced at 34 euros on the vineyard’s website, it can also be ordered online from other sites for 38 euros per 75 cl bottle. This rosé pairs beautifully with white meats, foie gras, or fish. For optimal tasting, a “slight decanting” (half an hour before serving) and a “serving temperature of 15 or even 16°C” are recommended on the website. Designed to be kept for more than 5 years, this rosé unfolds its full array of aromas throughout the summer. With a score of 94.5/100, the Château de Pibarnon Bandol 2024 is also a high-quality benchmark. The future of this tradition looks promising.
In summary, while these Bandol rosés offer an exceptional aromatic profile, it is the 2021 vintage of Château de Pibarnon Nuances, with its near-perfect score and unique balance, that stands out as the undisputed star of the summer, while the 2024 vintage ensures the continuation of this tradition of excellence for years to come.
