This bizarre French customer habit is driving shop owners crazy
With this next-generation rosé, there’s no fear of the summer heat. We’ve discovered the perfect companion for those warm evenings!
It’s the perfect addition to your barbecues, outdoor lunches, and you can’t imagine a gathering without it… For you, there’s no real summer without rosé. Yet, each year, the same question arises: is it sensible in this heat? Not exactly. Even when served chilled, a small glass of rosé can dehydrate. In warm weather, it’s not ideal. On the other hand, when entertaining friends, you don’t want to dampen the mood by only offering water… You’ve tried non-alcoholic wines, but none have truly satisfied; they’re usually bland at best, and at worst, downright awful. And at that price, you might as well drink water! Good news: we’ve found a promising alternative. It’s alcohol-free, low in calories, and, this time, genuinely tasty.
“Subtlety, texture, consistency… it’s a real culinary partner,” highlights Bastien Debono, France’s top sommelier of 2024. “It’s refreshing, fruity, and lingers on the palate!,” raves this first-time taster. With its salmon hue, zesty notes, and a texture reminiscent of very fine tannins, we too were almost fooled: it resembles wine, but it isn’t quite that. At least, not on paper: “It’s an alternative to rosé,” summarizes its co-founder, Arielle Bove. Together with chef Mauro Colagreco of the starred restaurant Mirazur in Menton, she created Tempera, a line of gourmet non-alcoholic beverages. It’s a sort of “liquid cuisine” in which the chef “infuses and blends flowers and aromatic plants,” she explains.
Red, white, rosé, and even sweet wines: the brand offers alternatives for every type of wine. Here, it’s the rosé, cuvée Aria II, that catches our interest. Crafted with red fruits, white tea with lychee and rose, and a hint of Timut pepper, it captures all the aromatic freshness of a rosé… without the headache the next day. Unlike a traditional rosé, it truly quenches thirst. Alcohol-free and low in sugar (1.5g per glass), it only has 7 calories per 100 ml.
If you’re looking for a rosé alternative that’s still festive, refreshing, and enjoyable with a meal, this beverage ticks all the boxes. It allows you to enjoy summer aperitifs without alcohol, without thirst… and without sacrificing any pleasure.
