On Thursday, she was crowned Sports Illustrated 2024’s Sportsperson of the Year, gracing the magazine’s cover in an eye-catching snakeskin-printed dress.
At 27, Biles has become the first Olympic athlete to earn this title from the magazine in over ten years, following basketball legend LeBron James in 2012.
One of the striking images in the magazine, captured by photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis, showcases Biles in silver sequin shorts by Retrofête, highlighting her athletic legs.
She paired these shorts with a black long-sleeve turtleneck romper from SER.O.YA and completed the look with metallic silver heels by Giuseppe Zanotti.
In another part of the feature, Biles is seen in a daring, see-through ensemble by David Koma, which features a deep neckline and is complemented by a flared mini skirt, also designed by the London-based fashion house.
The announcement was made on Instagram, where fans commended Sports Illustrated for their choice. One user commented, “This choice was easy as pie,” while another affirmed, “@sportsillustrated…definitely got it right!!! Congratulations @simonebiles.”
A third added, “The obvious answer congrats .”
Comments from her colleagues included one from former teammate Aly Raisman, who exclaimed, “STUNNING!!!!! ,” and from Omarosa Newman, who stated, “Face Card and Statistics don’t lie! She is HER!”
In her interview with the magazine, Biles expressed uncertainty about competing in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
She described the stakes that would compel her return as “life and death,” explaining, “Because I’ve accomplished so much, there’s almost nothing left to do, rather than to just be snobby and to try again and for what?”
Biles concluded, “I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done.”
