“I finally got my first tattoo, done by my talented daughter @gigisantopietro!!” White, 68, excitedly shared in an Instagram video caption on Monday.
“Every time I see it, I’ll think of her,” the elated mother continued.
Family Bonds and Tattoo Guns
In the clip, White reveals that her “wonderful daughter” Gigi, 28, is a professional tattoo artist. However, she made it clear that getting inked was entirely her decision.
“She’s not forcing me; I chose to do this,” White asserted, speaking outside the Lincoln Tattoo Company in Venice, California, ahead of her session.
White opted for a small, delicate heart on her wrist, a spot she could easily see every day.
Choosing the Perfect Design
Deciding on the specifics of her tattoo proved challenging for White. “Now the tricky part is selecting the right heart design and color,” she acknowledged.
Her daughter, the tattoo artist, presented various shapes and sizes for White to consider. “I think pink,” White decided, expressing her fondness for the color.
Looking at White’s light pink sweater, Santo Pietro teased, “I can’t see that for you.”
As White deliberated over three shades of pink, she eventually chose her daughter’s preferred pink shade, which had a slight salmon tint. “It’s meant to be. We’ve decided on the color,” White announced before finalizing a simple bubble-style heart on an iPad.
The Tattooing Experience
Sitting in the tattoo chair, White admitted to feeling nervous as her wrist was cleaned and prepped. “I can feel you shaking. No stress, no pressure,” Santo Pietro comforted her.
Unable to watch, White confessed, “I might pass out,” as the needle approached. “I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time,” she added, “I really am, I’m so happy.”
Santo Pietro was equally thrilled, expressing her joy at finally being able to tattoo her mother.
To White’s surprise, the tattooing process was painless. “That’s it?” she remarked, realizing it didn’t hurt at all.
Upon seeing the finished tattoo, White was overjoyed. “It’s just what I wanted! It really is, Gigi! Thank you,” she exclaimed.
Santo Pietro beamed, exclaiming, “You have a tattoo! Just like that.”
The video concluded with White embracing Santo Pietro, showing off her new tattoo to the camera.
White is a mother to both Gigi and her son Nikko, sharing them with her former husband George Santo Pietro, to whom she was married from 1990 to 2002.
