‘Battle of the Bands’ from Alan Finlan feat. Emma Jade Out Today!

Today sees the release of ‘Battle of the Bands’ from Alan Finlan featuring Emma Jade. This is the first time we’ve featured Alan Finlan on the site, and if you’ve never listened to him before, you’re in for a treat. His strong, smooth vocals are striking and make an immediate impact. Add the vocals to a fantastic country arrangement full of pedal steel and you’re hooked into the song from the start.

Then Emma Jade appears for the second verse, an artist who we’ve featured many times on Belles and Gals – in fact she won our EP of the year in 2018. Emma, (whose own vocals are made for country) and Alan make a quite a force together – and it’s even better when they team up for much of the song.

Battle of the Bands is a song about being in a relationship and navigating your way through  – ‘it’s like a Battle of the Bands, both playing songs only one of us can stand‘.

In these strange and surreal times, there is nothing like art to help get us through, and this is a wonderful Friday release.

About Alan Finlan

Hailing from Lee-on-the-Solent, Alan Finlan is a rising name in the UK Country scene. Having been a regular supporter of the UK Country Music scene – Alan has gigged hard himself and continued to develop his talents around his trademark vocals. His talents and efforts haven’t gone unnoticed either in the UK scene with him securing slots at some of 2019’s key festivals; as well as being nominated for a British Country Music Association award. Alan is in the process releasing multiple singles with a future release of a full album by 2020.
Not alone, Alan has help on stage from Ben Gurney on lead guitar, providing the riffs, melodies and raw sound that follows Alan’s vocals. Jordan Wood on bass guitar which gives the groove of every song and, contrary to popular opinion, is a pivotal member of the band.
His debut single Whiskey Eyes, released 10th November 2019 features Kentucky native Kinsey Rose giving her amazing vocal talent from across the pond. Based on a story from Alan’s time at University. Silverball Country says: “Backed by a powerfully strong beat throughout from the guitar and drums this really is beautiful storytelling in the country tradition. The theme is a Country favourite – it’s a song about loss and only truly realising what you have when its gone.”
Big Man Small Town, released 20th December is the creation of Alan’s memories of living in his hometown. Previewed in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium by Hunter Wolfe, one of the recording technicians at the studio. He says that it has a sound reminiscent of the 90’s country sound, with the best bits of modern country pop and rock to provide an upbeat sound that many people will enjoy.
