Harriet Rose’s ‘Love Me Like That’ – Out Today!

Despite the obvious problems facing the industry last year, it could be said that 2020 was a breakout year for Harriet Rose. She first came to our attention here at Belles and Gals this time last year, when we interviewed the Yorkshire-based singer songwriter, and in the summer we featured her brilliant debut single ‘Small Town Chains’. And at the start of this year we revealed that Harriet has received three nominations in the upcoming UK Country Music Spotlight Awards – ‘Best UK Song’ and ‘Best UK Video’ for ‘Small Town Chains’ and ‘Best UK Newcomer’.

Harriet clearly intends to hit the ground running in 2021 with the release of her second single ‘Love Me Like That’. If you’ve seen Harriet live, you’ll already know that she has powerhouse vocals, but on this track you hear a more soulful side to Harriet’s talent, which perfectly encapsulates the fragile message of the song. ‘Love Me Like That’ was written about a friend who had been in an abusive relationship, who put the blame of that abuse at their own feet. The song has a sad and regretful air throughout, although ends with a realisation that being mistreated by someone you love isn’t your fault. The production of the song only adds to the track – a full band sound, including banjo and slide, which complements those intimate vocals perfectly, never overpowering, and building and dropping away at exactly the right times.

‘Love Me Like That’ is an excellent second single from Harriet Rose, that will surely cement her place as one of the fastest rising stars in the UK Country Music Industry. A must listen.
