Kate Ellis releases ‘Scars’ Video ahead of ‘Spirals’ album release
Kate Ellis is one of our most featured artists at Belles and Gals, with one of the most interesting back stories on the UK Americana/Country scene. It’s been well detailed how Kate came to music relatively late after a successful career outside of it and this makes her rise on the scene all the more impressive. On the subject of being impressed, it’s fantastic to see a different side to Kate’s talents on the song ‘Scars’, a more up-tempo track to complement her trademark sumptuous music which we have described in the past as mellow and timeless.
‘Scars’ has a relentless and rollicking energy that just grabs you from the first beat. The title gives a big clue to the subject of the song which talks about a dysfunctional relationship, all be it a loving one. The song features a healthy dose of humour throughout and look out for the spoken part of the song in the middle of the track that changes the song up nicely. Without getting too hung up on genres, this has more of a country rock sound throughout, with the multi-layered production giving the song that fantastic energy. The song has such a toe-tapping vibe that it should be on anyone’s ‘must hear live’ list.
The music video is the perfect accompaniement to the song. The effervescense of the song comes to life in the pictures, with the energy of the band perfectly encapsulated, interspersed with a Nashville back-story and the wonderful close up spoken part of the song, where Kate Ellis displays sass in abundance!
