Tenille Townes Releases Nostalgic Heartbreaker “The Last Time”
Already known as one of the genre’s deepest thinkers when it comes to her songwriting, the latest single from rising Canadian Country artist Tenille Townes is no exception. “The Last Time” is a heartbreaking song which will no doubt be very relatable to most, describing the feeling of nostalgia you get once you realise a regular occurrence in your life won’t be happening again for whatever reason… to quote the song’s hook, “You don’t know that it’s the last time ’til it is”.
It’s apparently a song she has wanted to share for some time now. Co-written with Ben Goldsmith and Gordie Sampson, the lyrics will tug at your heart strings and make you look at the here and now in a different light. Talking about the inspiration behind the write, Tenille says “We always remember the first time something happens. We put it in a certain frame in our mind because we know it’s special. But the last time often doesn’t get the same frame because we don’t know that it’s happened until it’s already a part of our past. I wanted to write a song that captured that sentimental reality, with nostalgia in the fabric of the music. This song reminds me to stop and take in the moments that are happening right now, and I hope it feels like a comforting reminder to anybody else who needs it too.”

There’s a lot for Tenille’s ever growing fan base to look forward to in the coming weeks, including the Canadian Country Music Association Awards on 11th September in Calgary which Tenille will be co-hosting alongside Blanco Brown and where she is also set to perform… she leads the nominations this year with a phenomenal 7 including the year’s best single, album, songwriter and performer . Her hectic touring schedule includes a trip to Australia later in the month for the prestigious CMC Rocks Festival and then, a lot closer to home for her UK fan, she is of course heading our way in October for a string of shows including a London date on 19th for Country Music Week.
