Savannah Gardner’s “High Desert Memory” – Out Now!

Today we’re delighted to introduce Savannah Gardner to Belles and Gals on the very same day she releases her new single ‘High Desert Memory’. This track is a fantastic introduction to Savannah’s talents, giving us a taste of the rip-roaring zest she can bring to a track. Savannah’s made for country voice makes this the perfect ‘showdown’ song – you’ll be moving to this song from the very first note!
I caught up with Savannah this week to ask all about the song and more!

1. High Desert Memory has such an energy and a vibe to it. Can you give us an insight into how the song came about?

I met my co-writer, Sharon Vaughn, through a label I was working with at the time and we hit it off like a house on fire. We ended up writing 5 songs together with “High Desert Memory” being our second song. I really wanted to write a “cowboy” song with her as that is how she started in Nashville with “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys” which I’ve always been a huge fan of. I got the idea of a couple having a showdown in an old western town as they were getting ready to end things. I saw the saloon bar and the general store and the tumbleweeds rolling down the streets like a little movie in my head. I told her this concept and the song just poured out of us. It was written in under two hours.

2. The artwork is brilliant and a great representation of the song. Bet the photo shoot was a lot of fun!

The photo shoot was very quick actually! I live above a beautiful pub so I got all dressed up, went downstairs and asked one of my friends who was working to take a few snaps of me with my iPhone before they opened for the day. It is quite handy having access to a pub 24/7 – in many ways!

3. Can you tell us what 2023 might have in store for you?

I’m really looking forward to the year ahead! I’ll be playing at C2C in London at The O2 with a full band, and other festivals like Ramblin’ Roots Revue and Country on the Coast. I’ve just started my residency at Old Red Lion Theatre Pub in Islington every Thursday and Friday for three months supporting an amazing Janis Joplin Show that’s playing there (come say hi!). And I’ve got an album dropping with my other band The Wanted Sisters in the summer, and I’ll be releasing a solo album in October. Can’t wait to meet more amazing people along the road!
