Hayley McKay’s ‘Homemade Show’ – Video Premiere

Today we’re delighted to feature the video premiere for Hayley McKay’s ‘Homemade Show’. The song is literally bursting with energy with a fantastic up-tempo beat featuring acoustic guitars, banjo and harmonica to give it the ultimate pop country feel. The song was co-written with The Dunwells, who have toured with Mumford and Sons and Elbow.

Hayley McKay:

I think a lot of people can relate to this song; most of us at some point have held a hairbrush in front of the mirror while singing. I used to imagine myself on stage and it is now my reality! I hope this can inspire others to follow their passion in life. Everything has been pretty much ‘homemade’ for this song, including the artwork designed by a friend. I did a photoshoot in my house creating party vibes with tinsel and old materials“.

The video was inspired by Hayley and her Dad dancing and singing in the living room and family parties growing up – filmed in her home amongst friends, her singing students and family.

Hayley has had an exciting 2022 with performances at Glastonbury, C2C Festival 02 Arena London and Hardwick Live, where her band headlined the Introducing stage ahead of Stereophonics.

She was also celebrating this year as she won UK Entertainer of the Year at The Hot Country TV Awards in Ireland where she wowed the crowds in the Sleive Russel Hotel in Cavan.

Hayley’s first performance onstage was when she was 9yrs old, performing a young Marylin Monroe at Her Majesty’s Theatre West End London. She has been performing ever since.

When Hayley was 17, she was awarded a grant from Sunday for Sammy Foundation. This enabled her to make her first EP with Jamie Squires (who you may have seen performing with the 1975) and producer Fred Purser.  From this Hayley was invited to perform at Newcastle City Hall Sunday for Sammy in front of a full house alongside North East legends including Mark Knopkler, members from Lindisfarne, Matt Healy (1975) and the cast from Auf Weidersehn Pet. A few years later Ray Laidlaw asked Hayley if she would like to sing on the soundtrack for Harrigan starring Steven Tomkinson.

In 2011 Hayley won a National Talent Competition and the funds enabled her to study at BIMM (Brighton) and Access to Music in London amongst her peer Jess Glynne. Since then, Hayley has performed both solo acoustic and with her band at major festivals including Glastonbury, Cornbury, Latitude, Lindisfarne, Willowman, Northumberland Live, The Sage Americana Festival and Hardwick Live.
