Childcare costs are on the rise across France. However, prices can vary significantly depending on the region. Here are the details.

Employing a nanny, a childminder, or an occasional babysitter represents a significant expense for families. By 2025, wages for home childcare providers and nannies have increased again, outpacing inflation, according to figures from the Home Employment Observatory released by Fepem on July 15, 2025. Once again, net hourly rates vary by a few euros or cents depending on the profession and region. Here are the wage details near you.

What’s the Going Rate for a Home Nanny?

According to the latest data from the Home Employment Observatory published by Fepem, the average net hourly wage for home childcare in 2025 is 10.81 euros, an increase of 3.1% over the previous year. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region has the highest hourly rate at 10.94 euros. It’s important to note that the rate varies based on several factors: the number of children, the nanny’s experience, and the tasks required. During the interview, be sure to ask about their salary expectations and propose a range to facilitate the discussion. When drafting the contract, clearly specify the terms of payment, including allowances (meal, transport, travel expenses), paid holidays, and other potential costs.
