Joe DiMaggio’s Iconic Patek Philippe Watch Hits the Market at $1.2M!

A unique piece of Joe DiMaggio memorabilia is now available for acquisition.

The celebrated baseball icon’s “legendary” Patek Philippe watch is on the market, courtesy of Wind Vintage, with a hefty price tag of $1,200,000.

The seller describes it as “the most prestigious Patek Philippe ever associated with a professional athlete, and undoubtedly the finest linked to any baseball player.”

The timepiece, a Patek Philippe chronograph reference 130, is crafted from yellow gold and features elegant Breguet numerals on its round face.

First manufactured in 1947, this exquisite watch was sold on December 12, 1948. It was a gift from the Yankees’ owners to DiMaggio, celebrating his third American League MVP title and the Yankees’ victory in the World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers.

It’s believed that only 180 units of this model were ever made, with just about 55 appearing on the resale market over time.

Wind Vintage proclaims, “This piece is undoubtedly one of the finest examples of the Patek Philippe reference 130 and ranks as one of the most significant Patek Philippe wristwatches ever.”

The significance of the watch resonates with enthusiasts, one of whom remarked, “wow, truly a historic piece,” while another noted, “Combine the watch with its backstory and it ranks among the top 25 to 50 pieces worldwide.”

This remarkable watch has been sold previously. DiMaggio wore it throughout his life, including during his high-profile marriage to Marilyn Monroe, and kept it until his passing in 1999.

The watch first hit the auction block in 2006 through Hunt Auctions from DiMaggio’s estate, fetching $97,750 — a sum more than six times its estimated $15,000 value, with the proceeds benefiting the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation.
