For those who have had the pleasure of seeing Taylor Swift perform live on her Eras Tour, it’s clear that she is in top physical form.

During a marathon three-and-a-half-hour show, the pop icon masterfully covered a massive 75-meter stage, running, dancing, and singing over 40 of her top hits consecutively, without taking a single break.
The man behind Swift’s impressive fitness for her most demanding tour yet is Kirk Myers, the founder of the celebrity-favorite gym Dogpound and Swift’s trainer for the past decade. Myers also trains celebrities like Hugh Jackman, Cynthia Erivo, Lana Del Rey, and numerous Victoria’s Secret models.
Last weekend, Myers held a class at the lululemon Glow Up Studio in downtown NYC. As a dedicated Swift fan with admittedly low fitness levels, I was excited and nervous to participate in this exclusive class.
Stepping into the chic, pink-lit pop-up venue, I changed into my Glow Up Tank Top and Super-High-Rise Tights, feeling a mix of anticipation and anxiety.
While I’m good at achieving my daily step count, it had been years since I last visited a gym. Group exercise classes have always been intimidating to me—I remember being sore for days after a Krav Maga class I tried once. Plus, Myers had previously mentioned to Vogue that his workouts might make some people feel nauseous. How on earth was I going to keep up?

Before the class started, Myers encouraged me to have fun and not to be too hard on myself if I couldn’t perform every exercise perfectly. “Just do your best, and you can laugh it off if it doesn’t work out!” he said.
Taking his advice to heart, I joined the others on the mat, ready to sweat it out.
Our workout began with a series of butterfly crunches, challenging for someone who hadn’t done a crunch since middle school. Each rep made me envision myself onstage, rocking one of Swift’s iconic cropped outfits.
Myers explained, “I mostly train women and focus on creating a long, lean look, concentrating on the glutes, core, triceps, and back while minimizing bulkiness.”
Next up were planks—a real test of my nonexistent upper body strength. Soon, my arms were shaking uncontrollably. Myers noticed my struggle and suggested I try planking on my knees instead.
Following the planks, we moved on to leg and glute exercises with resistance bands. Thankfully, my background in ballet and regular power walks made this part of the workout more manageable for me.
We then shifted to using ankle weights for donkey kicks and fire hydrants, similar to exercises Swift has demonstrated in her training videos.
Throughout the session, Myers walked around, offering modifications and encouragement, reminding us to appreciate and care for our bodies.
Myers shared his own fitness journey with me earlier. He grew up overweight and faced a severe health scare at 21, which motivated him to lose over 100 pounds and helped him find his calling in fitness training.
As we wrapped up with step aerobics, my favorite part, I was genuinely enjoying myself—a stark contrast to other fitness classes I had tried.
Post-workout, Myers congratulated me, and despite the challenges, I felt strong and invigorated, a testament to the power of a good workout and a supportive trainer.
In Swift’s words, I felt like I had truly owned the stage.
