Channing Tatum has decided he will no longer accept roles that require significant weight gain, as he revealed the extreme changes his body has undergone for previous roles.
In a trio of photos, the first captures Tatum in front of a window, showcasing his well-defined abs.
“We back up! lol. 1st photo is today 205,” he shared in a detailed caption last Friday.
The second image reflects a mirror shot where Tatum appears less defined, having put on 30 pounds for his role in the film “Josephine,” shot last year.
The final photo shows a much leaner Tatum at 172 pounds for his recent film “Roofman.”
“I’m so thankful for my genetics,” the “Blink Twice” star expressed. “Thankful for my chef/nutritionist/witch. Thankful for my trainer. I couldn’t manage these drastic weight changes without you all.
“But no more fat roles haha,” the 44-year-old actor remarked, explaining that gaining weight for roles has become too physically demanding and challenging to lose afterward.
“But wow, looking at these photos, it’s incredible what the human body and spirit are capable of,” he concluded.
In a 2022 conversation with Kelly Clarkson, Tatum confessed he nearly passed on the opportunity to star in a third “Magic Mike” movie due to the intense physical preparation required.
“Even if you do work out, maintaining that level of fitness is unnatural,” he explained to the host. “I don’t understand how people with regular 9 to 5 jobs keep fit. It’s practically my full-time job and it’s still tough.”
He noted that while it was once easier to shift his weight for different roles, “now it’s not so easy to shed the pounds.”
Tatum’s film history, including roles as a stripper in “Magic Mike,” a soccer player in “She’s The Man,” and a professional dancer in “Step Up,” has consistently required him to maintain peak physical condition.
The “21 Jump Street” actor’s latest revealing photos emerge amid speculation about his new relationship with model Inka Williams.
Earlier this month, insiders told People that Williams “makes him happy” and he’s been doing well since his October 2024 separation from fiancée Zoë Kravitz.
