Welcome the Warm Weather with a BBQ Season Feast

As the warmer days roll in, so does the barbecue season. This summer, delight both kids and adults with ribs, and consider adding Spanish-style lomo to the mix, not to mention the tasty chipolatas. Get ready to enjoy!

If you’re planning to spend your vacation in France, aim to select meats sourced from within the country. Whether your grill features beef or pork, the flavor is best when it comes from animals born and raised in France. You’ll find a variety of options for your barbecue.

American-Style Ribs

Introduced to us in the 1960s, ribs (or spare ribs) have become a staple of outdoor dining. Extremely popular in the United States, these pork or beef ribs are perfect for family gatherings and friendly get-togethers. They are typically enjoyed by hand, allowing everyone to savor the rich, meaty flavor of these tender ribs. You might consider pre-cooking your ribs in broth for about half an hour before grilling them, or you could grill them for nearly an hour directly on the barbecue, wrapped in aluminum foil. This summer, ease into grilling with Bigard’s pre-marinated Pork Ribs available in France. Tender and flavorful, they come in three marinades: Barbecue, Mustard, and Tex-Mex. They are pre-cooked, requiring only a quick fifteen-minute reheat on the barbecue or in the oven. Prefer boneless because you’re not a fan of eating with your fingers? Try Bigard’s boneless beef ribs marinated in Tex-Mex sauce, also sourced from France.

Lomo, Spanish Style

Have you tried lomo? Across the Pyrenees, it’s a highly favored cut of meat. Made from pork loin, it is typically trimmed of fat and then salted for 48 hours to dry it out. After this, the lomo is marinated and ready to be grilled on the barbecue for just 5 minutes on each side! It’s delicious, offering a familiar taste to those who frequent Spain. This summer, Bigard is introducing lomo sourced from France in two enticing recipes (Provençal and Basque).

Local Chipolatas for the Grill

No barbecue is complete without sausages. Long and thin, chipolatas are easy to cook outdoors. They bring a festive and inclusive feel that everyone enjoys. Simply place them on the grill, turning regularly for about 10 minutes, and then they’re ready to be served directly off the fire. Bigard’s chipolatas, sourced from France and certified Label Rouge, are a cut above the rest. Low in fat and traditionally minced, they are available in two varieties (herbed or plain).
