During an appearance on the show “C l’hebdo,” Maïtena Biraben opened up about her self-image and discussed her personal definition of beauty.
Having made a significant mark on television, Maïtena Biraben is now dedicating herself to new endeavors that demonstrate her commitment to women’s issues. She has launched Mesdames, a feminist online media platform, and authored The Invisible Woman, where she challenges societal expectations placed on women in their fifties. This promotes a vision of women as free and comfortable in their own skin. However, she admitted during her guest appearance on C l’hebdo on France 5 that she hasn’t always held such a positive mindset.
It took Maïtena Biraben more than half a century to begin appreciating her own appearance. This was a revelation she shared with Aurélie Casse in June. When discussing beauty, the former host of The Grand Journal confidently stated, “I’m at an age where I finally consider myself pretty.” She added, “When I look at myself, I think: honestly, you look good“.
While she may have had insecurities in the past, those days are behind Maïtena Biraben now. “For a long time, and I believe this is true for many women, you look in the mirror and you see your mother, and it’s very very distressing,” she explained. Today, the woman in her fifties equates beauty with inner peace: “I think beauty is about feeling good inside, being at peace, knowing yourself better.” In her view, true beauty is not solely about physical attributes but about the inner calm one feels.
This inner serenity is reflected outwardly, lending a unique gentleness to her presence. “It’s a significant moment of beauty within oneself and also of physical beauty,” she concludes, demonstrating that beauty after 50 is as much about self-acceptance as it is about appearance.
