Pamela Anderson Advocates for a Natural Look
Pamela Anderson is championing a natural approach to beauty.
Brenda Song, who appears with Anderson in “The Last Showgirl,” mentioned that Anderson inspired the cast to forego makeup during filming.
In her role as Mary-Anne, a dancer, Song shared insights with Bustle about the minimalist beauty philosophy adopted on set.
“Outside of our stage makeup, we wore none at all,” Song revealed about the production directed by Gia Coppola.
“We attempted makeup on the first day, and Gia immediately felt it lacked authenticity,” she explained.
Anderson, at 57, recently became a notable advocate for going makeup-free, which has gained considerable attention online. She expressed her viewpoint succinctly, “These women don’t have time for it.”
Song recounted, “Pamela, being true to herself, declared, ‘I’m not doing it. You shouldn’t either.'”
Brenda Song Reflects on Her Acting Journey
The former star of “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody,” now 36, reminisced about her early acting days, accustomed to being constantly made up with powder and concealer since her teenage years.
“There was simply no room for makeup in this film,” Song stated. “It was incredibly liberating to not constantly worry about my appearance, especially saying, ‘This is the least I’ve ever worn in my career.'”
She continued, “Having just had two children, I felt very insecure. But working alongside these wonderful women who supported and uplifted me daily, I felt truly beautiful and comfortable.”
In a recent discussion with People, Anderson opened up about her character Shelley, an experienced showgirl, and her straightforward approach to beauty.
“I envisioned Shelley as she might appear going to the grocery store—just very raw and real. I was excited and ready to embrace that,” Anderson said.
Moreover, Anderson avoided mirrors while preparing for filming each day.
“I didn’t want any preconceptions about my appearance to influence me, unless it was through the showgirl mirrors used in the film,” she clarified.
