    Preheat the oven to 410°F. Soak the chestnuts in a bowl of water. Discard any that float to the top as this indicates damaged flesh. Drain well.

    Score each chestnut with an X using a paring knife.

    Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper in a single layer. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes.

    Allow to cool slightly and peel the chestnuts.
