In her latest music video for “Dance With Me,” which also features Tyga, Ciara has brought back one of her most memorable fashion pieces: a pair of Converse sneakers equipped with towering, lucite heels in the style of Pleasers.
This unique footwear, known informally as a frankenshoe, is a nod to a similar style she sported in her “Gimme Dat” music video 15 years earlier. However, this time the sneakers are in a bubblegum pink shade instead of black, perfectly complementing her pink vintage Cadillac.
In this new release, which coincides with her eighth studio album titled “CiCi,” Ciara dresses in all pink, complete with a silk bandana, a baseball cap, a utility shirt, and baggy pants.
Those who admire the 39-year-old singer’s innovative dance moves might recall her previous performance in the original sneaker heels, where she danced energetically in an empty lot, transforming the footwear into a notable fashion statement.
Now, in the year 2025, the “Body Party” singer is ready to reintroduce these distinctive shoes to the world.
Ciara has previously mentioned her tendency to disregard critics and embrace controversial fashion choices.
“I’ve learned to not be bothered by what people say,” she shared with Page Six last year. “Opinions are irrelevant. What truly matters is how you feel about your outfit choices.”
The music video for “Dance With Me” features more than just the shoes as a callback to her earlier work; Tyga sports a sparkly Atlanta Braves hat that closely resembles the one Ciara wore in “Gimme Dat” when she declared, “I’m gonna put on my crown.”
Ciara’s album “CiCi” marks her return to the music scene after a six-year hiatus. During this time, she has been focused on her role as a mother of four with her husband, New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson. This album is also her second release under her own label, Beauty Marks Entertainment.
The reintroduction of the famed footwear could be seen as a symbolic reclaiming, especially considering the tumultuous release of “Gimme Dat” from the 2010 album “Basic Instinct.” Shortly after that album’s debut, Ciara expressed her frustrations in a Facebook post about how her label had mishandled the album’s release and promotion, leading her to request a release from her contract.
Today, she confidently showcases her style and resilience, striding forward in those eight-inch lucite heels.
