Ashley Cooke, a country music artist, enjoys immersing herself in books while traveling.
“When I’m on the move, either on my tour bus or on a plane, reading is my favorite escape from the real world,” shared Cooke, whose latest track “the hell you are” was released this past Friday, in a conversation with Page Six.
She mentioned her eclectic taste in books.
“I often grab the latest bestseller at the airport, but I also love diving into classic literature or books that spark new creative ideas,” she explained.
Here are six books Cooke highly recommends.
“Verity” by Colleen Hoover
“Verity isn’t your typical slow-burn romance; it’s intensely dark, twisted, and romantically disturbing in the best possible way. I couldn’t stop reading it. Definitely a must-read if you’re looking for an adrenaline-pumping, shocking experience,” Cooke praised the novel.
“The Third Door” by Alex Banayan
“This book resonated with my soul. As a country musician pursuing a dream, Banayan’s narrative about unconventional paths to success really spoke to me. It’s like getting a motivational speech while being shown the hidden routes to where you want to go. Anyone with a dream should give this a read,” she recommended.
“Tuesdays With Morrie” by Mitch Albom
“This timeless book offers insights and perspectives that are rare and meaningful. It’s more than just a book; it’s a life lesson about appreciating every moment, cherishing your loved ones, and seeking wisdom. Morrie’s teachings about life’s deeper values really resonate, especially when you’re out there chasing your dreams,” she reflected.
“It Ends with Us” by Colleen Hoover
“‘It Ends With Us’ is a heart-wrenching story about the complexities of love and the tough choices that come with it. Lily’s journey of self-discovery and empowerment is raw and moving. It’s a potent reminder of the strength it takes to choose oneself,” she said.
“Untamed” by Glennon Doyle
“‘Untamed’ really sparked something in me. It’s fierce, honest, and refreshingly candid. It’s about shedding societal expectations and tuning into your own inner voice. As someone constantly surrounded by opinions on how to be and what to do, this book was a powerful reminder to stay true to myself,” she shared.
“A Court of Thorns and Roses” by Sarah J. Maas
“I never thought I’d be so captivated by a fantasy novel, but ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ completely pulled me into its world. Feyre is a character full of resilience, dreams, and survival instincts. It’s a unique blend of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘Hunger Games’, packed with emotion and thrilling elements,” she exclaimed.
