What if eating a specific food daily could help reduce wrinkles? Here’s the scoop.

Are you searching for an effective and natural way to fight wrinkles? There are several small steps you can take daily to combat the signs of aging. These include establishing a good skincare routine, drinking enough water (about two liters per day), and regular facial massages. However, according to dermatologist Neera Nathan, one particular food boasts properties that can help reduce wrinkles: the almond. On TikTok, she shared a video stating: “When I tell my patients that eating three handfuls of almonds daily is a natural way to fight wrinkles.” Indeed, almonds are rich in antioxidant vitamin E, fats, and minerals such as zinc and selenium, which can slow cellular aging. This claim is backed by scientific evidence.

A study conducted in 2021 by researchers in California and published in the scientific journal “MDPI” confirmed the effectiveness of almonds in reducing wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. The study followed 49 postmenopausal women over 24 weeks, or about six months. The participants consumed 400 calories of almonds daily. While this might sound like a lot, it actually equates to just three daily handfuls. The results? After several weeks, there was a 16% reduction in wrinkles and a 20% decrease in hyperpigmentation. The skin appeared more plump and the complexion more even. Moreover, the researchers noted an increase in skin hydration, both on the cheeks and forehead. However, it’s important to note that the study was only conducted on individuals with skin phototypes 1 or 2, meaning those with light complexions that rarely tan. Thus, the research did not explore the effects of almonds on darker skin tones.

As a healthful nut, almonds not only provide a feeling of fullness in small quantities but are also rich in vitamins and minerals. Nutritionists recommend incorporating them into your snacks, particularly in the afternoon. So, why not indulge in this all-in-one food that not only keeps you in shape but also helps combat wrinkles?
