Already a well-known brand in Japan for sensitive skin, this brand is carving out a significant presence in French pharmacies. Tested and approved.

For many years, Japanese beauty has captivated attention. Almost as celebrated as K-Beauty (Korean products), J-Beauty boasts products with cutting-edge technology, sophisticated formulations, and remarkable effectiveness. The problem? Very few brands are available in the French market, much to our dismay. However, a few weeks ago, Japan’s leading brand for sensitive skin launched in France. After a thorough trial, I am thoroughly impressed.

In Japan, this brand is an authority on understanding sensitive skin, utilizing very gentle active ingredients. The goal? To soothe and pamper the face. Established in 1985, Curél has now found its way into French pharmacies and parapharmacies. While the brand offers about fifty products in Japan, only six items from the Intense Hydration line are available here. Drawing on beauty rituals from the Land of the Rising Sun, the selection includes everything necessary for a proper double cleanse (makeup removers, cleansing foam, etc.). Naturally, the lineup includes an essence (a vital step in Japan), as well as moisturizing creams. The products are fortified with ceramides, essential for maintaining healthy skin. These act like glue holding skin cells together, preventing moisture loss and thus ensuring a healthy skin barrier. The result? Skin is hydrated, plump, and most importantly, comfortable.

Having very sensitive skin, I blush extremely easily. To be honest, even some pharmacy products labeled “for sensitive skin” cause me unpleasant reactions. When I first tried this brand, I was somewhat skeptical. However, it became clear that Curél’s offerings are truly gentle. I’ve been using the facial cleansing foam for several weeks now. Normally, I do not like this texture, as it’s too harsh for my skin, but this time after using it, my skin does not feel tight. Unexpected. A very welcome detail: the foam is formulated without fragrance, dyes, or alcohol.

The intense moisturizing cream is also worth mentioning: I apply it in the evening after the serum. The texture is light, nourishing without being oily, making it suitable for my combination skin. In the morning, my dehydration lines on the forehead are less noticeable, and my skin looks radiant. In short, Curél has won me over in just a few weeks. The only downside? The prices of the products. While they are not exorbitant (expect to pay around twenty euros per item), building a full routine can be costly.
