Fans Roast Sarah Jessica Parker for Carrie’s Bizarre ‘Strawberry Shortcake’ Hat

That certainly makes quite the impression.

A year after Sarah Jessica Parker teased fans with a glimpse of her character Carrie Bradshaw’s controversial clothing choices for Season 3 of “And Just Like That,” the episode showcasing the notorious hat premiered on May 29.

The hat in question — a large, floppy gingham piece by Maryam Keyhani, priced at $511 — has been called “unhinged” and compared to the iconic pink hat worn by Strawberry Shortcake.

During a walk through Washington Square Park alongside her co-star Sarita Choudhury, Parker donned the extravagant hat paired with a colorful vintage ’70s tiered dress by Ossie Clark and wooden slides from Dr. Scholl’s costing $120.

“I saw the hat and immediately knew I needed it on my head,” Parker revealed to US Weekly in a video interview the previous day. “We typically just try different hats on me, take some photos, and hope that Michael Patrick [King] will approve,” she continued, referring to the series creator.

The 60-year-old actress also mentioned that the dress reminded her of Neapolitan ice cream.

“It felt like something was missing, which is often the case after you’ve tried on a number of hats — it needed that final touch,” explained Parker, known for her character’s eclectic array of headgear.

It appears King was indeed on board with the flamboyant hat. “I think we’ve really worn him down,” Parker commented. “He’s gotten used to seeing large items on heads, so he’s quite flexible about their frequency now,” she added.

However, not all fans of the HBO series were pleased with SJP’s hat choice.

One viewer expressed on X (formerly Twitter), “Carrie Bradshaw in a ridiculous hat, we are so back.” Another viewer critiqued, “I can support even the most outlandish of Carrie’s fashion statements, but this duvet-like hat is just too much.”

“Now Carrie, what in the world is this hat?” another fan humorously questioned.

Yet, some viewers were fans of the bold look. “This hat is incredible. I hope everyone gets one this summer ,” another chimed in.

We can likely expect many more bold fashion statements from Carrie this season.
