Faustine Bollaert has discovered a simple trick to escape to the Maldives during heavy traffic jams. She shares it with her 13-year-old daughter.

There’s a very simple way to imagine yourself in the Maldives while stuck in a traffic jam. Faustine Bollaert has mastered it, and it’s just the kind of small joy she envisions sharing with her 13-year-old daughter. Upon the release of her summer beauty box with Blissim, the TV host shared this hassle-free ritual that’s as simple as it is delightful.

The secret involves a familiar action, one that many of us overlook. “I always have a hand cream in my car, and when we’re in traffic, I apply a little,” the host shares. It might not seem original at first glance… but this small act has turned into a genuine sensory break for her, a way to steal a few seconds of “elsewhere” when traffic grinds to a halt. And the perfect product from her Blissim box for this? The Baïja cream, with its sweet, sun-kissed scent: “The Baïja cream makes me feel like I’m in the Maldives even though I’m stuck in traffic, I think she would love it,” she imagines.

This “she” refers to her daughter, Abbie, who is 13 years old. And if Faustine can so clearly picture sharing this moment with her, it’s because it aligns perfectly with her view of beauty at that age. According to her, the teenager is “very natural,” and the host has no desire to push her into a skincare routine too early. “I just want her to take care if there’s something bothering her. But if she doesn’t need anything, I advocate for her doing nothing, because I think 13 is too young to start that,” she explains. This stance is all the more pronounced as she praises a whole generation of young women who “accept themselves as they are.

However, the scented cream entirely sidesteps this notion of obligation. Where a routine feels mandatory, a fragrant care product is purely about pleasure. And that’s precisely the distinction Faustine herself makes: with hand cream, her daughter “doesn’t feel like she’s disguising herself.” She isn’t transforming; she’s simply indulging. Indeed, the host has noticed that her daughter gladly borrows the cream she keeps in her car: “I’ve seen that she quite willingly snatches it from me,” she says with a smile.

So, here lies the entire charm of this quick fix: no makeup, no beauty pressure, just a dab of sweet-smelling cream and a shared illusion, during an endless red light, of having their feet in the lagoon. A two-person escape that costs nothing but a little imagination… and a lot of patience in traffic.
