Ginger Zee’s Commitment to Sustainable Fashion

Ginger Zee, the beloved meteorologist from “Good Morning America,” recently opened up about her commitment to maintaining an environmentally friendly wardrobe.

The beloved television figure has made a point of not purchasing any new clothing items for more than four years, and she frequently recycles outfits for her on-air appearances, including a favorite yellow halter-neck dress she’s worn for nearly a decade.

“When I talk about not buying new clothes for over four years to reduce consumerism, it really stirs people up almost as much as when I present data on rising temperatures,” she explained in a social media post that included multiple images of her wearing the iconic yellow dress throughout the years.

The caption further highlighted her practice with the hashtag #nonewclothes, indicating the dress has been a staple in her wardrobe for at least eight years.

Her followers on social media applauded her approach to fashion. One admirer commented, “You’re a great example for us all!!! You look beautiful in your yellow ,” expressing both support for her sustainable choices and admiration for her style.

“This is such an inspiration!!! Thanks for sharing!!” commented another, while a third supporter remarked, “You look amazing. This outfit is a reminder that when we buy quality and take care of our things, they can last and look good for years.”

Zee has been vocal about her efforts to combat the culture of overconsumption for a long time, advocating for the reuse of clothing as a standard practice.

A Nostalgic Farewell to Times Square

Last summer, Zee took her commitment to re-wearing clothing to a memorable level when she chose an old favorite on the final day “GMA” broadcasted from their iconic Times Square studio.

She showcased the longevity of her wardrobe by posting comparison photos of herself in a blue and pink colorblock dress, which she first wore in 2012, alongside a more recent photo from June 2025. The side-by-side images not only demonstrated the dress’s durability but also highlighted her long-term relationship with it.

“Left 2012. Right today. I started here in fall 2011. But this summer dress has been with me the whole time. Farewell Times Square and looking forward to new memories in Hudson Square – this dress is coming with me #nonewclothes,” she wrote, sharing her excitement for new beginnings while sticking to her sustainable fashion ethos.

Through her public platform, Zee continues to inspire her audience with her dedication to sustainability, proving that fashion doesn’t have to be fleeting and that some pieces can indeed last a lifetime.
