Hilary Duff Lights Up Late Night TV

Hilary Duff recently graced late-night television with her presence.

The star of “Lizzie McGuire,” now 38, captivated the audience with her performance of “Roommates” on “The Tonight Show” wearing a stunning white gown crafted to appear as if soaked. The dress, a creation from the London-based fashion house Di Petsa, was perfectly complemented with translucent slingback pumps by Gianvito Rossi, priced at $995.

Style Inspired by Music Video

The fashion choice was a direct homage to the “Roommates” music video released in January. In the video, Duff is seen singing and dancing barefoot, braving a simulated rainstorm in her apartment, dressed in a Ronny Kobo yellow asymmetrical dress that retails for $517.

On “Fallon,” she replicated the soaked look without any actual water. The designer behind Di Petsa, Greek fashion innovator Dimitra Petsa, is renowned for her distinctive “wet look” garments, which cleverly use draping and stitching to mimic the appearance of wet fabric clinging to the body.

In an exclusive interview with Page Six Style, Petsa explained that her designs confront societal norms around the visibility of women’s natural bodily fluids. “If you cry, sweat, or breastfeed in public, it’s expected to be concealed,” she stated. “My aim is to craft garments that celebrate these natural aspects by embodying a perpetually wet look, even when dry.”

Petsa’s unique designs have caught the attention of celebrities such as the Hadid sisters, Shakira, and Lizzo. Each piece is meticulously handmade, generally requiring two to three weeks to complete. Duff’s particular high-slit tank dress debuted at London Fashion Week just last month as part of Di Petsa’s fall 2026 collection.

Dynamic Performance and New Music

The performance began with Duff lounging on a leather chair set against a bedroom-themed backdrop, before delivering the song she co-wrote with her husband Matthew Koma and producer Brian Phillips.

“Roommates” is a highlight from Duff’s latest album “Luck … or Something,” her first in over ten years, released on February 20. She described the track as a nostalgic longing for a time less consumed by daily responsibilities and routine.

During her appearance on “The Tonight Show,” Duff also engaged in light-hearted conversation with host Jimmy Fallon, discussing her childhood fascination with the Olsen Twins and participating in a quirky game of “Sip & Sing,” involving singing while holding water in her mouth.

Looking ahead, Duff is preparing for her “Lucky Me” world tour this summer, marking her return to arena tours after two decades.
