While performing at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, the top left portion of Simpson’s pale pink dress, which featured a lace-up design and feather-adorned skirt, descended below her similarly colored lingerie.
Luckily, Simpson’s lengthy, wavy blonde hair and a shiny metallic fringe jacket helped shield her during this unexpected reveal.
The style icon complemented her bold outfit with a large cross necklace and several chunky silver rings.
Despite this slip, Simpson’s show this morning was notably smoother than her last major public singing event. Her previous performance was on “American Idol,” marking her first live performance in 15 years.
Back in May, she performed her classic hit “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’” with former “American Idol” contestant Josh King. The performance, however, did not go well and received considerable negative feedback, with some describing it as a “train wreck.”
Addressing the Backlash
Wearing a plunging silver metallic maxi dress, Simpson responded to the criticism shortly after, revealing to “Extra” that she was “dying” throughout the performance.
“I can’t even describe how nervous I was,” she admitted. “I had to spray hairspray on my feet just to keep myself from moving, even though it doesn’t really keep me in place. And my feet were sweating—which is weird because my feet never sweat,” Simpson explained.
In March, the mother of three made a comeback to the music industry after a 15-year break, releasing her EP “Nashville Canyon, Part 1.” The follow-up, Part 2, is expected to be released on September 5.
