The “Leave” singer, who recently caught the internet’s attention for her unusual choice of beverage, defended her preference while talking to a paparazzo on Sunday.
“It really helps clear my throat,” she told TMZ at Los Angeles International Airport. “I just sing better when I drink snake sperm. It’s just how it is.”
Simpson, aged 44, described the taste of the reptile-derived drink as akin to “a really dark honey.”
When questioned about the possibility of endorsing the exotic product officially, the star of “Employee of the Month” humorously responded, “I can’t even read what’s on the bottle, so I’m not sure I’d be great in an infomercial.”
Yet, Simpson hasn’t dismissed the idea of launching her own brand of snake sperm in the future.
“Maybe I’ll start my own line,” she joked. “Yeah, perhaps I should.”
Regarding whether she was traveling with the controversial drink, she clarified, “No, I couldn’t bring it on the plane.”
The fashion mogul initially disclosed her use of this unusual supplement in an Instagram video on March 28.
“People ask me, ‘What are you drinking?’ because it looks like some Chinese herbal remedy,” she recounted in the video. “And I’m like, ‘I don’t know, my vocal coach told me it would help my singing.'”
According to Simpson, the person she was speaking with searched online only to discover that the key ingredient was snake sperm.
“So, if you want great vocals, you gotta drink snake sperm,” she chuckled in the video.
Her fans had varied reactions to her bold beverage choice, flooding the comments of her post.
“The new Chicken of the Sea moment,” commented one fan, referencing her notable confusion over tuna on the 2003 show “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.”
“Lol hilarious and still so carefree,” another fan remarked.
“Put her back on TV right now lol,” urged another follower.
With her recent return to the music scene after a 15-year hiatus, Simpson is taking special care of her vocal cords.
Her latest EP, “Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1,” includes the song “Leave,” hinting at infidelity by her estranged husband, Eric Johnson.
Simpson announced her separation from the former NFL player, aged 45, in January, after months of speculation about their relationship.
The couple has three children together: daughter Maxwell, 12, son Ace, 11, and daughter Birdie, 6.
