This bizarre French customer habit is driving shop owners crazy
On her recent visit to the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Kesha surprised host Alex Cooper by revealing that the eye-catching gold necklace she often wears contains a piece of her own placenta.
“Just blend it, turn it into a necklace. Fabulous!” the pop singer remarked playfully, as she displayed the distinctive ornament.
“Apparently, your placenta can grant you extrasensory perception and helps in opening your third eye,” she stated.
“My mom believes that. She baked it, boxed it, and stumbled upon it again in the basement when I was around 21,” Kesha recounted.
Why does she carry this personal relic with her?
“I’m all about engaging in meaningful rituals. I mean, I could totally be a cult leader,” Kesha joked. “I treasure rituals that connect me to a more mystical reality; the earthly life is so mundane. I’m much happier interacting with my spirit guides and angels. It’s a lot more intriguing.”
Kesha mentioned that the hospital intended to dispose of her placenta at birth, but her mother managed to save it. “Now, it’s always with me,” she added.
During the conversation, there was a moment when the “Die Young” artist thought she lost the pendant while sitting on the couch.
“My placenta just disappeared into your sofa,” she said humorously.
“Oh my goodness. Where could your placenta be?” Cooper inquired, half-serious. “Did it slip through a crack?”
Fortunately, Kesha quickly located the missing item and shared with Cooper that she also collects teeth for creating art and jewelry.
“Having these little tokens helps me feel connected to the people I cherish,” she noted.
“I’ve been gathering them for a while… Even my cats’ small wisdom teeth, which had to be removed, are part of my collection. I’m practically a tooth fairy,” she said with a chuckle.
Kesha isn’t the only celebrity to fashion jewelry from a birth-related body part.
Cardi B collaborated with Mommy Made Encapsulation for a heart-shaped pendant made from her umbilical cord following the birth of her fourth child last year.
The company charges $500 for its Placenta Encapsulation Service, which turns the organ into consumable pills for the mother, but the decorative gold chrome-dipped charm is an additional $50.
