He thought he was rescuing a sheep—but it turned out to be something else
This bizarre French customer habit is driving shop owners crazy
A thrill-seeker at heart, Etienne has explored over fifty amusement parks throughout his lifetime. However, there’s one that he unhesitatingly ranks as the “craziest park” of them all, though it remains relatively unknown to many of us.
In France alone, there are around 650 leisure parks, attracting over 70 million visitors annually! The global fascination with theme parks and amusement parks continues unabated: they keep getting bigger, wilder, and despite the increasing costs, these venues promising unforgettable experiences and adrenaline rushes continue to draw crowds year after year. And some take their passion to the extreme. This includes Etienne Martinelli, the founder of the YouTube channel EDBattraction, which boasts over 67,000 subscribers. An absolute theme park enthusiast, he has visited “about fifty in eight different countries,” dedicating a whopping “10 to 15,000 euros annually” to his passion!
During an interview with Faustine Bollaert on the show Un jour, une vie on RTL, he shared his most memorable experiences at parks around the globe. While the United States is known for some of the most spectacular parks, Europe is no slouch either. Disneyland Paris, Parc Astérix, PortAventura World, Europa-Park… The Old Continent is home to some of the most famous and beloved parks globally, with the latter being named the world’s best amusement park ten times within eleven years. Yet, none of these renowned destinations top Etienne Martinelli’s list of the “craziest” parks.
To many’s surprise, the title goes to a relatively obscure European park according to the expert: Energylandia. Located in Zator, southern Poland, just over an hour from Krakow, it is the largest park in the country. “It’s the craziest in terms of attractions because they purchased them frenziedly without much thought to the park’s layout. It has a peculiar theme, but it features a lot of roller coasters,” explains Etienne Martinelli. Indeed, Energylandia boasts no fewer than 133 attractions spread across seven distinct zones, potentially making it the park with the most coasters in the world. For comparison, the two Disneyland parks together have about fifty attractions, as does Parc Astérix, while Europa-Park has around a hundred.
Moreover, Energylandia is home to the tallest watercoaster in the world, standing at 60 meters. The park also features the second tallest and fastest roller coaster in Europe, following the Red Force ride at Ferrari Land, located within the PortAventura complex.
In terms of pricing, Energylandia appears to be a bargain compared to other European parks: a standard one-day ticket costs about 47 euros in the off-season, and around 52 euros during peak season. Discounted tickets, for “under 140 cm” or seniors aged 65 and above, are sold between 37 and 42 euros depending on the time of year. Ideal for thrill-seekers, the park is also family-friendly with its wide variety of attractions.
