When Thanksgiving arrives, it’s time for everyone to gather for a grand meal, and nobody brings the festive spirit quite like the Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey.
The renowned “Honey” vocalist, aged 56, took to Instagram to post a video of herself whipping up a large serving of her “annual anointed greens” just in time for the holiday.
True to her diva persona, the five-time Grammy Award winner didn’t forgo her signature glamour while cooking. Dressed in casual black leggings and a cozy white knit sweater from Dior, she looked right at home in the kitchen, expertly handling every ingredient of her dish.
Though it wasn’t the main highlight of the video, even the casual observer could not miss Carey’s lavish custom Van Cleef & Arpels butterfly ring—a present from the jeweler—which glistened among the rich array of vegetables and spices.
Adorning black latex gloves, Carey was seen seasoning a huge pot of greens with chicken broth, parsley, and garlic. During her cooking, she spontaneously sang and commented, “Yes, I’m wearing gloves. OK? That’s how I like it.”
This unique mix of safety gear and luxury jewelry quickly drew attention in the comments section.
“The ring over the glove. Haha I absolutely adore you!” one fan exclaimed, while others called the style choice “legendary” and “iconic.”
During a 2020 appearance on Naomi Campbell’s podcast, “No Filter with Naomi,” Carey discussed her prized diamond ring—one of many butterfly-themed pieces she owns—confessing, “I never take it off.”
She even wore the ring throughout her pregnancy with twins Monroe and Moroccan Cannon, despite experiencing swelling in her hands. The twins, shared with her former husband Nick Cannon, were born in April 2011, marking at least 15 years that Carey has cherished this special piece.
Carey’s love for butterfly jewelry started in the ’90s, especially around the time she released her 1997 album “Butterfly.” This theme has since become a core element of her personal brand and a subtle symbol recognized by her fans.
Comparable pieces, such as the Van Cleef & Arpels Flying Butterfly ring, are priced at $41,700. Each unique piece is crafted from white gold and features over 3 carats of diamonds in various settings.
Most recently, Carey was spotted wearing the butterfly ring at her 2025 VMAs performance where she received the Video Vanguard Award.
During this career-spanning performance, Carey donned diamonds valued at $10 million, including a 204.38-carat “Rosée Éternelle” diamond necklace, a 72.15-carat bracelet from Etho Maria, a 37.62-carat piece from Hamilton Jewelers, and an additional 3.25-carat ring from Levuma.
With the holiday season officially kicking off, the “All I Want for Christmas Is You” singer is gearing up for her busiest time of the year.
Here’s to hoping that everyone’s holiday gifts shine as brightly—or at the very least, include a useful pair of gloves—this season.
