In a fitting tribute to his legendary life, Ozzy Osbourne left this world on a triumphant note.
Confidants of the Osbourne family revealed to Page Six that the Prince of Darkness had an ideal farewell, performing in his final concert a few days prior to his passing.
The iconic rocker had been dealing with long-term health issues for years, and recently, his condition had visibly worsened.
However, those close to him noted that the Black Sabbath’s “Back To The Beginning” concert on July 5 revitalized him, seemingly reversing his age in the final days of his life.
“The concert really rejuvenated him—it was as if he was brimming with vitality,” mentioned a close friend of the heavy metal icon, “He had been declining, but after that performance, he was truly himself again. It’s a poignant conclusion.”
The performance, held at Aston Park Stadium, was particularly sentimental as it was not only a few miles from where the band was originally formed in 1969, but also the first time the original Sabbath lineup had reunited since 2005.
Despite suffering from Parkinson’s and other ailments since the early 2000s, Osbourne performed from a custom-designed black-and-purple throne, delivering classics like “War Pigs,” “N.I.B.,” “Iron Man,” and “Paranoid.”
“God bless each and every one of you,” he expressed to the overflowing crowd before exiting the stage for the final time.
Heavy metal legends such as Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Pantera, and Alice In Chains were also present, performing at the benefit concert which amassed close to $200 million for various causes, including Parkinson’s research.
According to insiders, the euphoria from the concert sustained Osbourne for the remaining 17 days of his life. “It was the best conclusion they could have hoped for,” an insider commented.
Osbourne passed away back in his homeland, the United Kingdom, surrounded by his family, including Jack, Kelly, and Sharon Osbourne, on July 22.
