Looking to save some cash but unsure where to start? Here’s what you need to do (and what not to do)!
With Christmas just around the corner, now is the perfect time to start saving! But you might wonder, how exactly can you save money? Should you cut back on dining out or cancel your gym membership? Not at all! To manage your budget effectively, you can simply cut out or replace certain non-essential habits.
On her TikTok account, Sarah Kassmi, known as “le dressing de Sarah,” revealed how she saves over 80 euros each month by stopping three basic activities. First, she stopped going to nail salons for manicures. You might not realize it, but getting a professional manicure every month can be quite costly. “I used to go every month. It’s really nice, a little treat for yourself, but sometimes I felt that the service wasn’t worth what I paid. Plus, it doesn’t last,” she explained in her video. To save between 40 and 80 euros a month, she instead invested in a UV nail machine to do her nails at home. These machines can be found at various prices (around 40 euros), and they pay for themselves after just 2 or 3 uses. This change alone can save you between 40 and 80 euros per month. Another area where you can cut costs? Waxing at a salon. By not visiting the beautician, Sarah saves both time and money. She simply buys wax from the supermarket for less than 10 euros, which lasts her several months. Lastly, she no longer spends money on period products. She used to spend 5 to 10 euros a month on sanitary pads and tampons. Now, she uses a menstrual cup and period underwear, which are better for both her body and the environment.
By replacing these three small things in your daily routine, you can save more than 80 euros each month. If it seems hard to give these up, try it for just one month. You’ll quickly see that these habits weren’t as essential as you thought!
