This year has been transformative for Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine, who rocketed to fame after Page Six Style exclusively revealed that she was the designer behind Taylor Swift’s engagement ring in August.

This bizarre French customer habit is driving shop owners crazy
On October 3, during an interview on “Heart Breakfast,” Swift disclosed that she had hinted at her preferences to her fiancé Travis Kelce by showing him a video of Lubeck’s jewelry over a year ago.
“It turns out he was really paying attention because when I saw the ring, I was shocked,” Swift recounted. “I was like, ‘I know who made that! I know who made that! I know who made that!’”
Appearing on the “Today” show on a recent Friday, Lubeck expressed her excitement, “Oh my gosh… the fact that she recognized my work, that is such an incredible honor. She said, ‘I know who made that.’ Hearing her say that was the most exciting thing.”
The 30-year-old designer described her experience as something beyond her wildest dreams, remarking, “This is something you only dream of happening… it’s incredibly surreal,” and confessed, “I have a pinch-me moment every day… I feel so honored.”
Although Lubeck, whose jewelry line is currently sold out on her website, started crafting jewelry only a few years ago, she has quickly made her mark.
“I think it was 2021 when I took my first engraving course and I was immediately hooked. I just became obsessed with it,” she shared.
Lubeck finds the process of engraving meditative, “It’s so zen. It is such a meditative experience for me to start engraving.”
Jewelry design runs in her family, and though it was unexpected, joining the business felt right. “The fact that I joined the business was a surprise… but it was the most natural thing in the world,” she said, adding, “I have a baby picture of me in my dad’s chair in front of his bench… but I have a degree in psychology.”
Lubeck’s expertise in hand-engraving allows her to imprint a distinctive signature on her creations, and she has a particular affinity for antique stones.
Swift’s engagement ring has brought renewed attention to the charm and sustainability of antique stones in jewelry making.
On the “Today” show, Lubeck highlighted a ring featuring an old mine cut diamond, explaining its unique characteristics, “You see how it has these big, broad facets, whereas modern cuts are more like a disco ball. They are super sparkly, while the old cuts are just a little bit more… the flashes are broader. It creates this romantic subtlety.”
With Swift now sporting her dream ring, there’s speculation about whether Lubeck might design a Super Bowl ring for Swift’s fiancé. Lubeck was enthusiastic about the possibility, saying, “I would! Yes, absolutely.”
