The star launched his promotional tour for “Marty Supreme” in vibrant hues, choosing an orange theme that nods to the ping-pong balls used by his character, Marty Mauser, in the movie.
Since the film’s debut in December, the 30-year-old Oscar nominee has consistently worn a specific outfit style at least five times.
This particular fashion choice mirrors the attire of Mauser, a hustler from the Lower East Side in 1952, who is seen in similar outfits throughout the film.
Chalamet worked with Sarah Burton to design custom Givenchy suits, all double-breasted with a peak lapel, accompanied by double-pleated trousers and a white cotton shirt, according to the brand’s press releases.
As the awards season approaches, Chalamet seems to be placing his bets on this signature suit, appearing at the Oscar Nominee Luncheon on Tuesday in a royal blue version.
His series of tailored outfits began on January 3 at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, where he sported the vintage-inspired look in a dark brown color, complete with a tie decorated with an oyster print from the brand’s historical collections.
Accompanying him was his girlfriend Kylie Jenner, who dazzled in orange sequins.
The following day, Chalamet opted for a navy pinstripe suit paired with a pink floral tie from the archives, while Jenner shone in a black metal mesh outfit as he professed his love for her during his acceptance speech.
About a month later, on February 4, Chalamet returned to his go-to ensemble for the film’s premiere in Paris, this time choosing a warm brown suit without a tie.
He continued this pattern on February 7, attending both the Director’s Guild of America Awards and a Q&A at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica in a beige suit, again foregoing the tie.
With an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor on the horizon, his stylist Taylor McNeil might be keeping Givenchy on speed dial.
