Top Baby Names of 2025 Unveiled
The most popular baby names for the year 2025 have just been revealed with the release of the book “The Official Guide to Baby Names,” published in early September by First Editions. For girls, the names Ambre, Louise, Alba, Jade, and Emma have made it into the top five, while Gabriel, Raphael, Leo, Maël, and Louis are leading the list for boys. Stéphanie Rapoport, one of the authors of this definitive guide to names, points out that one particular girl’s name is set to stand out in the coming years. “This girl’s name is likely to break into the top 10 by 2026,” she shares.

The Rising Popularity of an Original Name
The name in question is Inaya, an original name of Arabic origin meaning “care and attention,” which has been steadily climbing the charts. This is the name chosen by the singer Soprano for his daughter born in July 2007. Like his other children, Luna and Lenny, the Marseille-based rapper dedicated a song to her, expressing his joy in fatherhood and the sacrifices he is willing to make to provide her with the best upbringing possible.
Since then, the name Inaya has seen significant popularity: there were 86 registrations in 2007, 234 in 2008, and “two years later, the name surpassed the symbolic milestone of 1000 registrations per year,” confirms “The Official Guide to Baby Names” (First Editions). It is also the 65th most given female name in France since the year 2000. Today, it is given to approximately one in every 175 girls.
“This original name capitalizes on the trend of ‘ia’ endings and vowel juxtapositions,” explain the book’s authors Stéphanie Rapoport and Claire Tabarly Perrin. They add that the name first made it into the top 50 most popular names in the capital city in 2020.
