Several weeks following the premiere of the series “Off Campus” on Prime Video, a scene featuring Mika Abdalla donning a replica of Jennifer Lopez’s iconic Versace dress from the 2000 Grammys continues to make waves online, even drawing praise from the superstar herself.
Despite the appearance of effortlessness in the portrayal of Abdalla’s character Allie, the dress required meticulous planning to maintain its position, shared by the show’s costume designer Charlene Akuamoah. She relied heavily on fashion tape to achieve this effect.
“Booby Tape was our primary choice,” she disclosed, adding that she is also a big fan of Nippies tape and nipple covers. “They offer an amazing range of skin tones, which is crucial for me,” she stated.
Booby Tape The Original Breast Tape
Recognized as the “world’s first and original breast lift tape,” Booby Tape is crafted for a supportive, uplifted appearance without a bra. The brand even offers specialized scissors for a perfect tape cut every time.
Nippies also enjoys high praise on Amazon, and numerous stylists have recommended it as an essential item in their toolkit over the years.

Akuamoah’s expertise with the tape ensured the daring outfit remained intact during the scene where Allie and Dean (Stephen Kalyn) dance to “On the Floor” by J.Lo.
“The moment I read the script and saw the request for that dress, I knew it had to be impeccable; it’s Versace!” she exclaimed. “My early years in the fashion industry instilled in me a deep respect for Donatella.”
While Lopez’s original dress famously spurred the creation of Google Images, Akuamoah did not anticipate the overwhelming viral reaction to her adaptation of the iconic outfit.
“From the first fitting, we knew it would be special, but the extent of its impact was beyond our expectations,” she shared.
“It’s truly amazing and just goes to show that a great fashion piece can evoke emotions time and again,” she added.
