Ever since Wednesday Addams made her moody debut on Netflix, she’s been impossible to ignore. With her deadpan wit, gothic wardrobe, and talent for solving gruesome mysteries, Wednesday became a global sensation, trailing just behind Squid Game in viewership. Now, as whispers turn into trailers and casting announcements, Season 2 is on its way—and it promises to be darker, sharper, and even more unapologetically weird.

Here’s everything we know about what’s next at Nevermore Academy.

When Is Wednesday Season 2 Coming Out?

If it feels like the wait has been eternal, you’re not alone. The series was among several Hollywood productions put on pause during the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes. Thankfully, by the end of 2024, filming wrapped and fans got their first tease: a haunting image of Jenna Ortega in full Wednesday mode, her braids neatly in place and her stare as intense as ever. The caption? “Coming in 2025.”

Netflix hasn’t announced a specific release date, but fans are bracing for a mid-to-late 2025 premiere. Until then, there’s plenty of cryptic footage, fan theories, and eyebrow-raising casting news to keep us entertained.

What Twists Are Lurking in the Plot?

Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger that would make even Morticia raise an eyebrow. Wednesday had just wrapped up her first school year by uncovering the Hyde killer, only to receive a chilling anonymous text message. That mystery is expected to drive much of Season 2’s tension, as a new villain steps out of the shadows.

And then there’s Tyler—the seemingly sweet sheriff’s son turned Hyde monster. While he vanished at the end of last season, his return as a potential rogue threat has been heavily teased. Without Laurel Gates pulling the strings, he may be even more unpredictable.

Adding to the intrigue is the rumored rise of the Morning Songs, a cult-like group tied to Bianca’s siren mother. This new layer of manipulation and mind control could pull Wednesday into deeper waters—figuratively and maybe even literally.

Actress Jenna Ortega has made it clear that romance will be taking a backseat this season. “We’re leaning harder into horror and action,” she told Variety. “It’s sharper. Each episode has a cinematic feel.”

Who’s Coming Back—and Who’s Not?

The Addams Family core remains intact, with Jenna Ortega leading the cast once again. She’ll be joined by:

  • Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, the lovable werewolf roommate

  • Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Hyde-in-hiding

  • Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, siren and reluctant ally

  • Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia

  • Luis Guzmán as Gomez

  • Victor Dorobantu returning as the always-helpful Thing

However, there are some noticeable absences. Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier, will not return, reportedly due to off-screen controversies. Naomi J. Ogawa (Yoko Tanaka) is also out for Season 2.

A Star-Studded Lineup of New Faces

Possibly the most unexpected (and exciting) addition? Lady Gaga, who’s rumored to appear in a mystery role. Her hit “Bloody Mary” famously became the unofficial anthem for Wednesday’s viral dance, so her involvement feels both fitting and deliciously meta.

Veteran actors like Steve Buscemi, Thandiwe Newton, and Joanna Lumley (as Grandmama) are also joining the creepy, kooky world. And if the rumors are true, Christopher Lloyd—a fan-favorite Uncle Fester from the ’90s films—might make a surprise appearance.

Netflix has also hinted at new characters named Karloff and Wolfgang, names that seem to pay homage to classic horror and Addams family lore alike.

A New Gothic Playground: Filming in Ireland

Season 1 was filmed in Romania, but for Season 2, the production moved west—to the misty landscapes of Ireland. According to producer Steve Stark, the country’s natural backdrops provided the perfect eerie atmosphere. In fact, it’s the largest Netflix production ever filmed in Ireland.

Taoiseach Simon Harris praised the series for showcasing Irish talent and boosting local economies—a win for both the industry and fans craving a fresh look for Nevermore Academy.

Episode Titles and Hints of a Spin-Off

This season will include eight episodes, and Netflix has already teased the titles for the first four:

  • Episode 1: Here We Woe Again

  • Episode 2: If These Woes Could Talk

  • Episode 3: The Devil You Woe

  • Episode 4: The Great Outwoes

Each title nods to the series’ signature blend of gloom and playfulness. Also in the works? A rumored spin-off focused on Uncle Fester, which could deepen the Addams universe and give fans even more dark delight.

What’s Next for Wednesday?

If Season 1 was about Wednesday carving out her identity at Nevermore, Season 2 is about owning her power. Expect more monsters, more mysteries, and a version of Wednesday who’s even more in control—and even more terrifying to those who underestimate her.

With a knockout cast, stronger horror influences, and high expectations, Wednesday is poised to dominate Netflix again in 2025. Whether you’re a lifelong Addams fan or a newcomer drawn in by Ortega’s mesmerizing performance, there’s no doubt this next chapter will be worth the wait.
