Ortega, who stars in the second part of Season 2 of “Wednesday,” opted for a striking ensemble designed by Zac Posen for GapStudio. Her outfit featured a charcoal distressed T-shirt dress with an intriguing open back and hip-reaching cutouts. The design was complemented by a black lace bra visible beneath the dress’s sweetheart neckline, which was accented by delicate halterneck straps.
Styling and Inspirations
The dress was styled by Enrique Melendez and drew inspiration from the Y2K DIY T-shirt trend. According to a press release, the garment underwent a special wash-house process that enhanced its texture, playing with light and dark tones to create a visually arresting effect.
Zac Posen, Gap Inc.’s Executive Vice President and Creative Director, praised Ortega’s style, stating, “Jenna Ortega combines edge and sophistication, mystery and theatricality in a way that makes her an incredibly engaging artist.” He elaborated on the techniques used in designing the dress, which included slashing, shredding, braiding, knotting, and macrame ladder, elevating the simple cotton jersey T-shirt to a couture level.
Ortega’s overall look was completed with bleached eyebrows, a dark, smoky eye makeup, and a partially braided hairstyle. Her outfit was boldly paired with large black platform boots, enhancing the edgy aesthetic.
Lady Gaga’s Dramatic Entrance
Lady Gaga, portraying Rosaline Rotwood, a faculty member at Nevermore Academy in “Wednesday,” graced the event in a dramatic black ensemble by Anton Femia, a graduate from Central Saint Martins. Her outfit featured extravagant ruffled sleeves and voluminous pants, segmented by a jewel-adorned corset.
Adding to her theatrical outfit, Gaga wore an oversized, jester-like umbrella hat created by designer Matthew David Andrews and milliner Jenny Beattie.
Fans of the series can look forward to more captivating performances as “Wednesday Season 2, Part 2” is set to premiere on Netflix on September 3.
